NEW DELHI, India - Ghana's President John Kufuor on Monday asked Indian businesses to invest in Ghana to help accelerate the economic development of the West African republic.
Information technology, modernizing agriculture, pharmaceuticals, education and energy were some sectors where Indian entrepreneurs could invest, Kufuor told industry leaders.
Kufuor, who began a four-day official visit to India on Monday was scheduled to hold a series of meetings with Indian leaders, including President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and External Affairs Minister Yashwant Sinha.
With two-way trade pegged at more than dlrs 85 million in 2002-2003, boosting trade and economic cooperation would dominate the agenda during Kufuor's talks, an official said.
Eight agreements to promote trade cooperation between India and Ghana were to be signed during Kufuor's visit.
