Jewi Wharf (Western Region), October 14 The Jomoro Rural Bank at Tikobo Number One yesterday re-opened its fund mobilisation centre at Jewi Wharf, near Half Assini. The operations of the centre were suspended for about three years because of accommodation problems. Mr Albert Nyame, manager of the bank, said the re-opening of the centre followed persistent appeals by customers, mostly fishermen and farmers. The centre will save customers from travelling long distances to Half Assini and Tikobo Number One to transact business with the bank. Mr Alex Cudjoe and Mr Ebah Assamoah, both members of the Board of Directors, said the bank hopes to increase its deposit base from 800 million cedis to one billion cedis by the end of the year. According to them the bank also aims at improving transportation in the catchment area. A total of 10 million cedis was mobilised on the opening day.
