Mount Vernon, New York: In a fraternal yet business-like atmosphere, residents of Mount Vernon, a city in the Westchester county of New York yesterday tasted a bit of what awaits them this September when Ghana get on show in their city.
The occasion was the media launch of the Ghana international trade and investment fair dubbed “Ghana New York Expo 2012” to be held from September 14 to September 18. Mayor Ernest D. Davis in his remarks at the City Hall Plaza explained that Ghana has proven itself to be a beacon of hope and prosperity and an economic and cultural gateway to Africa and his City is eager to welcome about 300 hundred small and medium scale companies from Ghana for commerce and friendship. Mayor Davis intimated his desire to annualize the event when he answered in the affirmative when quizzed by reporter Charles Nimmo Ntiamoah-Mensah aka Mr. Cnn of 3G Media if the event will be an annual affair.
Mr. Kojo Ampah Sahara, President/Ceo of Malaika Media Network, the main organizers of the event threw light on the numerous investment opportunities in Ghana and entreated the American business community to consider Ghana as a “Pot of Gold” waiting to be carried and virtually bragged about the wonderful economic and socio-political atmosphere that is unrivaled in the whole of Africa. Mr. Ampah Sahara indicated that, among other events there will be a Durbar of Chiefs, International trade conference, International Music and Fashion show, Interdenominational Church service and customized tours as part of the trade show.
In attendance were a cross section of the press, City Executives, Ghanaian/African community leaders in the New York Metro area and Mr. Nashon Halevi, a liaison of the Mayor’s Office to the event. Ghana New York Expo 2012 is scheduled to coincide with the Arts on Third Festival, Westchester County’s Premier Arts and Music Festival.
