Alhaji Rashid Pelpuo, Minister of State in-charge of Private Sector Development, has presented the overall Best Exporter 2012 award to Mr Emmanuel Teiko, Finance Director of Kasapreko Company Limited at the? recent awards ceremony organised by the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA), at the State Banquet Hall in Accra.
Kasapreko Company Limited, which is one of Ghana’s leading exporters, recorded $19 million as profit from the export of its products in 2012.
The company’s flagship product, Alomo Bitters, became the springboard for the company to grab the topmost award as the overall best exporter of the year.
Alomo Bitters is currently recording remarkable sales in countries such as Nigeria, Liberia, Sierra Leone, South Africa, United Kingdom and the United States.
The awards ceremony was on the theme, “Providing sustainable motivation for export.”
The Chief Executive Officer of GEPA, Mr Gideon Quarcoo, commended Kasapreko for its feat in the gin market, with Alomo Bitters becoming the preferred choice for consumers.
He also acknowledged the company for conceptualising the first scientifically formulated, herbal-based alcoholic beverage in Ghana.
Mr Quarcoo was also optimistic that with the efforts of Kasapreko and other exporters, GEPA’s target of $3.3 billion dollars in future would be achievable.
The national awards for export achievement has become an important annual event on the calendar of the exporting community to commemorate the role of non- traditional exports to the economic development of Ghana.
