A prominent member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Member of Parliament for Asante Akim North, Andy Kwame Appiah-Kubi, has blamed the party's significant loss in the December 7, 2024, elections partly on the actions of former Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta.

Speaking on TV3's "The Key Points" on December 14, Appiah-Kubi claimed that Ofori-Atta's growing influence made him unapproachable for assistance by NPP Members of Parliament.

"Former finance minister Ken Ofori-Atta grew too pompous. He was more powerful than the president and the vice president, and that was why we wanted him out," Appiah-Kubi stated.

He recalled that over 90 MPs had called for Ofori-Atta's dismissal during a period of economic hardship, as their constituents were struggling with the high costs of living.

Despite these calls, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo did not act.

Appiah-Kubi also criticised other ministers for their arrogance and unresponsiveness to MPs seeking development projects for their constituencies.

"I bashed some of them on our pages; some of the ministers were very arrogant," he added.
