Koforidua to get a garment factory

A Sod-cutting ceremony had been performed for the construction of a garment factory for the Eastern Regional Branch of the Ghana National Tailors and Dressmakers Association (GNTDA) at Osabene near Koforidua.

The two storey building is estimated to cost GH¢ 320,000.00 and is expected to be completed in three years.

When completed, the building would have 60 industrial sewing machines for production of dresses for the local market and for export, as well as stores, offices and guest houses.

The facility would also be used for training of young people in the sewing and tailoring trade and also upgrade the skills of master craftsmen.

The sod-cutting ceremony was performed jointly by Reverend Stephen Addo, the Eastern Regional Pastor of the Revival Outreach Church and Mr Eric Tsikata, the Chief Executive Offier of K Arts Enterprise.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Tsikata reminded members of the association that, their project was laudable and would be given the needed support and urged them to mobilize resources for the early completion of the project.

The Chairman of the Building Project Committee, Mr Dan Serlom said the project would benefit current and future generations.

Earlier in a welcoming address, the Regional Chairman of the Association, Mr Hopkin Appau assured members that the completion of the project would inspire others to join the profession.
