The youth of Krodua, a community near Asamankese, have appealed to traditional authorities in the area to allocate land to them to enable them go into cocoa farming.
They made the appeal at a durbar organized by the 2014/15 National Service Personnel Association of Ghana COCOBOD, to encourage the youth in cocoa farming project initiative.
The Youth In Cocoa Project is aimed at supporting young people with technical knowledge and cocoa seedlings to invest in cocoa farming.
The youth made the appeal following the release of a large tract of land by the traditional authorities in Krodua and surrounding communities for the development of rubber plantations.
Responding to the appeal, the Chief of Krodua, Nana Kwame Anim, said he gave the land out because he was assured by the rubber estate developers that the plantation would create employment for over 600 youth in the community.
He was of the view that the creation of employment for such a large number of youth could help bring about development in the area.
He expressed gratitude to COCOBOD for launching the Youth In Cocoa Project, which he said, had received massive response from the youth.
He gave the assurance that the traditional authorities were prepared to release 60 acres of land to the youth to invest in cocoa farming, and challenged them to take up the task.
