Kwahu Afram Plains Assembly receives motorbikes for Agriculture Officers

The Kwahu Afram Plains North District (KAPNDA) Agriculture Department has received 17 motorbikes and an additional Nation Builders Corps (NABCO) personnel to support the successful implementation of the Planting for Export and Rural Development' (PERD) and the Planting for Food and Jobs (PFJ) programmes in the District.

Speaking at the third ordinary meeting of the Assembly held at Donkorkrom, in the Kwahu Afram Plains North District, Mr Samuel Kena, the District Chief Executive said, the intervention would help the Agriculture Department to offer effective and efficient extension services to beneficiary farmers across the District.

He said, the government attaches seriousness to agriculture hence his interventions to boost the Agriculture sector.

He said the District, since the launch of the PERD programme, had distributed 80,000 cashew seedlings to farmers in support of the programme and had plans of raising 150,000 seedlings this year for the farmers.

Mr Kena said the Assembly had cited the nursery for the cashew seedlings in ten communities across the district.

The communities include, Asikasu, Amankwa Tornu, Kwaekese, Kayera, Ntonaboma, Abotanso, Supon, Adukrom and Abotanso.

He urged the Assembly Members to inform their electorates about the government's flagship programmes so that they could also become beneficiaries.

Mr Kena called on farmers, especially the youth, to embrace the programmes to raise their living standards.
