Let's dialogue on fuel prices – COPEC

The Executive Secretary of the Chamber of Petroleum Consumers Ghana (COPEC-Ghana), Duncan Amoah, has called for a stakeholder dialogue on the cost of fuel prices in the country.

According to him, the rate at which fuel prices are going up in Ghana is negatively affecting consumers, hence a drastic measure should be introduced by the ministries of Energy and Finance to deal with the situation.

Mr Amoah told Accra News’ Agyin Barima on the mid-day news on Accra 100.5FM Monday, 20 August that on a daily basis, the cost of fuel increases without any announcement form the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), a situation that distorts the plans and programmes of consumers.

“Salaries haven’t gone up yet prices of fuel have been going upon on a daily basis without any announcement,” he said.

“Any time you go to the fuel stations to buy fuel, you will notice that the prices have gone up, we want the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Energy to organise a stakeholder dialogue where players in the oil sector will offer ideas on how to stabilise the prices of fuel.

“Until that is done, the prices will keep going up and that will further burden consumers,” he added.
