The Danish Embassy is organising a delegation of Ghanaian businesses to Denmark from November 18-21, as part of efforts to promote commercial cooperation between Danish and Ghanaian businesses.
The Ghanaian business delegation, which consists of twelve individuals representing eleven (11) companies, comes from the sectors of architecture, construction and machinery, energy, water and electrical services, general trading, and waste management.
According to press statement from the Embassy, the local business delegation is seeking collaboration with Danish businesses with focus on renewable energy, energy efficiency, water and environment among others.
The delegation seeks to see at first-hand new technologies in the sectors, given Denmark's longstanding expertise in green and sustainable development.
The delegation is scheduled to visit eight companies located across seven major cities of Denmark.
Denmark is home to many innovative companies and enterprises that continuously strive to be at the forefront when it comes to technological development and smart solutions within the sectors of green and renewable energy, sustainability and environment.
Focus on creating a green and sustainable society is a key goal for Denmark. More than 25 percent of Denmark's energy already comes from renewable energy, and the goal is to reach 35 percent in 2020 and 100 percent by 2050.
In addition to the visit to technology hubs, high-level business receptions and meetings will be arranged between the Ghanaian and Danish business representatives. Among the companies the local business delegation is planned to interact with are JohsTandrup A/S, water solutions company; Kamstrup, solutions provider in water and electricity metering; Dansolar, solar energy experts; Greenna Motorfabrik, wind-energy solutions provider; and Grundfos A/S, the biggest pump company in the world.
The four-day visit will see the delegation interact with representatives of the Confederation of Danish Industries, as well as pay a visit to the famous "State of Green", the official green brand of Denmark.
According to the Danish Ambassador to Ghana Ms. Margit Thomsen, “Being the first of its kind, the delegation marks an important expansion in the longstanding relationship between Ghana and Denmark -- an expansion toward a partnership of increased trade and economic cooperation".
Hopefully, the delegation "Ghana in Denmark" will provide inspiration for Ghanaian businesses to venture into ‘green development’ in Ghana, she added.
Some of the companies embarking on the four-day trip were optimistic about learning from the rich Danish experience.
Samuel Boateng, whose company Anointed Electrical Services is embarking on the trip, said he is confident that his company vision of veering to renewable energy will receive a massive boost.
Companies embarking on the trip include Akuffo & Associates, KF94 Company, Anointed Electrical Engineering Services, Energy Depot, Ghana Water Company and African Bagg.
The rest are American Products Company, Maiden Groupe, Margins Group, PJ Greene Associates, and Kas Empire.
