Mr Kwaku Oppong-Kyekyeku Kaakyire, Afigya-Kwabre District Chief Executive (DCE) has urged local entrepreneurs to work hard to produce quality goods.

He said this would encourage more people to patronize locally produced goods and make the country rich.

Mr. Oppong-Kyekyeku was speaking at the graduation ceremony for 25 members of the Afigyaman Widows Foundation, after their two-weeks training in soap and detergent production at Tetrem.

The project is to provide employable skills to the widows to enable them to generate income to improve on their livelihoods, and also to support their children.

The training was facilitated by the District Business Advisory Centre (BAC), under the National Board for Small Scale industries (NBSSI), with support from the Rural Enterprises Programme (REP).

The DCE appealed to the widows to work hard, adopt savings habits and good accounting systems and refrain from unnecessary spending.

He pledged the assembly’s support to enhance and sustain their activities.

Madam Marina Kusi, the Head of the BAC urged the mothers not to be selfish but open up and work with people who approach them for help.

Madam Kusi told them that the training was to increase the number of rural micro and small entrepreneurs to generate profit, economic growth and employment opportunities for the people.

She however, said her outfit was ready to provide other business support services for people, who were prepared to learn a trade.

Mr Dominic Dompreh, the Chairman of the Foundation praised the DCE for coming to their aid and hoped it would continue to assist other members to acquire skills in other business enterprises.

Madam Comfort Adoma, Leader of the Widows urged other widows in the area to join the group so that “together we can share ideas on how to support ourselves and our families.”
