MASLOC disburses loans to 89 women groups in U/R

Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC) has disbursed GH?886,400 to 89 women groups in the Upper West Region, to improve their livelihood in line with government's transforming Ghana and changing lives policy.

The 89 recipient groups representing 2,225 women were drawn from Jirapa, Lambussie, Nandom, Daffiama, Issa and Bussie communities.

The rest are from Wa West District, Wa Municipality, Wa East District, Lawra District, Sissala East and West Districts.

Mr Mustapha Batalima Abubakar, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the MASLOC who presented the cheques to the beneficiary groups, urged the women to be prompt in paying back their loans at the stipulated time.

He explained that the loans are revolving fund to improve the lives of rural folks and it is therefore fair for them to pay promptly for others to benefit from the facility.

He said government's establishment of the small loans is to support rural folks especially women who face numerous challenges in accessing loan facilities from the traditional banking systems to boost their businesses.

Mr Abubakar also interacted with beneficiaries and educated the yet-to-benefit groups on the processes involved in accessing the facility.

He was accompanied by Mr Daniel Axim, Head of Operations at MASLOC,

Alhaji Amin Mohammed, Northern Sector Manager of MASLOC and Mr Karim Dakurah, Regional Manager.

Mr Alban Kingsford Sumana Bagbin, Majority Leader in Parliament assisted him in presenting the cheques to beneficiary groups at the programme.
