MMT goes into land acquisition

Metro Mass Transit Ltd, Ghana’s flagship transport company, is acquiring large plots of land across the country in pursuit of its plans to expand to meet the requirements in its 5–Year Strategic Plan 2014–2018.

MMT’s expansion is expected to propel the company to world class status to operate in every corner of the country hopefully by 2018.

Ing. Noble John Appiah, Managing Director of MMT, who received the first two of such lands at Afarikrom and Nyinankromakrom near Nkawkaw at the weekend, was grateful to the land donors, admitting that the lands are strategically located.

He described them as important for a multi – purpose workshop to tackle all breakdowns within a short time, thus reducing ‘down time’ on the route.

In his estimation, MMT would become the most customer-friendly transport facility in Ghana and would be backed by well-trained and highly motivated staff.

Nana Omari Afari Keseku, Afarikromhene and proprietor of Eden Trom, a mandatory stop for MMT buses, commended management for its foresight and acquisition of the lands.

He expressed the hope that the gesture would help open further the Accra-Nkawkaw corridor and create more jobs for the people.

The MMT delegation included Emmanuel Amoah, Legal Manager and Steven Yeboah the Administrative Manager.

In another development, the Metro Mass Transit has posted the Toll Free Number 0800-10-400 for complaints and enquiries.

The new number was given official consent in Kumasi last weekend when the first of Call Desks of MMT was outdoored at its Ashanti Regional Depot at Abrepo.

The toll free number replaces the Emergency Telephone number at the back of the company’s fleet of buses totaling 1,400.

Commissioning the new desk and number, Ing Noble John Appiah, urged MMT’s esteemed passengers not to hesitate to disclose their complaints and enquiries for prompt action.
