Leading telecommunication company, MTN has partnered Chinese multi-national tech firm, Lenovo, through its subsidiary, Motorola Mobility to launch its latest phone.

Made from military aircraft-grade aluminium and stainless steel, the stunning new ‘Moto Z’ is durable. It is the world’s thinnest premium smartphone (just 4.9mm thin) and is compatible with the all-new 'Moto Mods' which gives consumers the ability to change their phone in a snap.

The Moto Mods are interchangeable backs that transform the smartphone into a movie projector, boombox, battery powerhouse, and more.

One can get up to 30 hours of battery that will keep users going all day and well into the night without needing to stop and recharge. However, when there is the need to recharge the phone, just 15 minutes of recharge will give you up to 8 hours of power.

Having been off the market for a long period, Motorola was acquired by Lenovo in 2015 and the new owners are focused on taking over the market with its new range of products which include Moto C, Moto E, Moto G, Moto X and Moto Z.

According to country manager of Lenovo, John Peters Adekpe the partnership with MTN was due to the fact that “MTN is the market leader in Ghana today, not only in voice but in data with over 50% market share so it gives us that platform to introduce this excellent product to the target audience across Ghana in a much easier and faster way”.

He said “what we have been able to show is a technology that is only available with Motorola. It is patented, it is not replicable anywhere and this is something that we are giving to consumers”.

General Manager of Consumer Marketing at MTN, Noel Ganson said the telecommunication company is focused on driving the digital business in Ghana and ensure their customers enjoy the digital world hence their decision to partner Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) such as Lenovo.

He said, “any other marketing support that we can give any brand of OEM partner that we have we do in full but what we do is look at the consumer”.

He added that MTN as part of the partnership will be giving everyone who gets the Moto Z or any other Motorola phone free “2.5G data monthly for the next 6 months”.

Mr. Ganson said the Moto Z is a new innovation all phone lovers would have adding that “what is actually astounding has to do with the accessories that come with it”.

The phone is available at all MTN stores as well as all phone shops in Ghana and purchasing a Moto Z will come with free Moto Mods.
