MTN Mobile Money subscribers who use Starbow can now purchase their air tickets through MTN Mobile Money.

This service was unveiled during an interaction between MTN Ghana officials and editors in the Volta region.

The forum was organized to brief journalists on new trends in telecommunications, drive towards convergence, MTN’s CSR initiatives, as well as the company’s network coverage expansion projects currently underway in the region.

Cynthia Lumor, Corporate Services Executive, speaking to journalists in the region said, “MTN Mobile Money is accessible, secure and life enriching and we encourage everybody to take advantage of it.”

Mrs Lumor explained that “the process involves customers calling Starbow on 18181 or 0245000000 for booking. An invoice is then sent to the customer for payment through MTN Mobile Money wallet or any MTN Service Center.”

She expressed her gratitude to the media in the region for the diverse ways in which they have supported the organization in disseminating information on its activities to the public.

She also shared with the media some of the unique ways they could enrich their lives and careers through the use of data services.

The Commercial Manager for MTN’s South East Business District, Sam Adjei-Sah, gave the media some highlights of MTN’s commercial activities in the region.

He stated that 56 percent of 3G data capacity available in the commercial towns of Volta region was not being utilized, an indication of low data usage in the region.

He therefore encouraged the media to take advantage of the facility to enhance their work.

Mr. Adjei-Sah also highlighted the benefits of the MTN Mobile Money Service which he said provided a lot of convenience to subscribers.

He urged the media as well as the public to embrace MTN Mobile Money Services, especially as the rainy season sets in, stating that “during the rainy season it will be difficult to go out to purchase airtime, pay electricity and DSTV bills as well as transfer money to business partners, with Mobile Money all these transactions can be done within a few minutes from the comfort of your home or office.”

The Field Services Manager for the South East Business District of MTN, Nicholas Frimpong, displayed some of the services available on MTN’s network including video calling.

He also highlighted some of the key investments MTN has made in the network to improve the service.

In his closing remarks, the President of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) in the Volta region, Victor Kwawukume, expressed appreciation to MTN for the importance it places on the media, especially those in the region.

He urged MTN to organize more capacity technology building sessions on the telecoms industry to keep the journalists updated on emerging trends. The forum will be replicated in all 10 regions of the country.
