MTN assists Muslims to celebrate Eid-Ul-Fitr

Accra, Aug. 29, GNA - MTN Ghana Limited, a telecommunication company, on Monday said its 90-million-dollar submarine cable would enhance its already efficient services to its subscribers. This was announced by Mr Abubakar Mohammed, Senior Sales Manager, MTN Ghana Limited during the presentation of items worth GH 7,500 cedis to National Chief Imam, Dr Sheikh Osmanu Nuhu Sharabutu at his residence in Fadama, Accra.

The package which included a cheque for GH 2,500 cedis, MTN Souvenirs, recharge cards worth GH 500 cedis, an iPod for the Chief Imam, cooking oil, two rams, hampers, assorted food items to assist Muslims in the celebration of this year's Eid-Ul-Fitr slated for Wednesday, August 31. Mr Mohammed urged Muslim entrepreneurs to take advantage of MTN's Business ICT which offered support to small and medium enterprises to boost their businesses.

He noted that Eid-Ul-Fitr offered important lessons in giving and building relationships which were part of MTN's values and practices. "MTN wishes to express appreciation to communities where it operates that is why it set up the MTN Ghana Foundation, to take care of its corporate Social responsibility activities across the country and return to communities where it operates."

He was optimistic that the lessons of the celebration would further sensitise Ghanaians to emulate the Muslim practice of giving and the need t= o impact positively on the lives of the less privileged in the communities. Admonishing the public to take advantage of the Mobile Number Portability with MTN, Mr Mohammed reminded their subscribers to register their SIM cards before the September 30, deadline. Mr Mohammed said MTN apart from lending their support to 93Salla" S= treet jam and cultural display at Nima, its assistance would be extended to prayers at the Independence Square. He said MTN would offer pilgrims to this year's Hajj better offers a= nd urged Muslims to take advantage of its roaming service. Dr Sharabutu, receiving the package, commended MTN Ghana Limited for its immense support adding, Muslim community would continue to offer prayer= s towards the success of their operations.
