MTN crowns 4th Hero of Change

MTN has crowned Naomi Esi Arku Amoah, an evangelist, as its Hero of Change for the fourth season of the humanitarian programme.

Her foundation, the Royal Seed Home in Kasoa is responsible for catering for over 100 street and abandoned children, some of who have reached tertiary education level.

For those abandoned because of one health complication or the other, Naomi, with the help of beneficiaries, bears the cost of treatment, some as costly as 80 dollars biweekly.

This year’s Heroes of Change reality programme was climaxed with an awards show at the Accra International Conference Centre on Friday 18th May.

Ten finalist vied for the ultimate price of GHS100,000.

The ten and their respective foundations were as follows; Naomi Esi Arku of the Royal Seed Home, Linat Osman Kundaribuo, Teen Mum Project, Emmanuel Annobil, Mental Health NGO, Ayisha Fuseini, an entrepreneur, and Dr Quincy Attipoe, The Smile Village Foundation.



The others included; Dr Dzifa Dey, The Rheumatology Initiative, Rev. Sanatu Nantogma, The Tumakavi Development Association, Serwaa Quaynor, Autism Awareness Care and training, Prince Oduro Williams, Doctors in the Gap and Josephine Agbo Nettey, Integrated Development in Focus.

These ten were picked after a three member jury went through a gruesome selecting process for over 10000 nominations of heroes from across the country.

Some finalists, were also awarded for their good works in specific categories as health, education and economic empowerment, with GHS10,000 each to support their noble cause.

The recipients for those awards were, Emmanuel Annobil, Mrs Serwaa Quaynor and Rev. Sanatu Nantogma for their works in specific fields.

Emmanuel Annobil was awarded the Best Health Project for his work in rehabilitating mentally disabled people through his Mental Health NGO in Kaneshie.

Mrs Serwaa Quaynor, a mother of a child with autism, who has for 20 years, dedicated her life to creating awareness on autism was crowned winner for the Best Education Project. She is also the founder of the Autism Awareness Care and Training (AACT).



The award for the Best Economic Empowerment project went to Rev. Sanatu Nantogma for championing the cause of educating the girl child and women empowerment among other things, through The Tumakavi Development Association.

This year, the jury looked out for the person with the project that embodied all the categories there were as they claimed had not been the case in previous years.

The MTN heroes of change captures the essence of humanity and rewards the bringers of change in communities by equipping them with enough resources to finish their good works.



The programme recognises selfless people who sacrifice their time and resources to improve their communities and brighten lives in areas such as health, education and economic empowerment.
