Mamfe, Dec 19, GNA - Mobile Telecommunications Network (MTN), has donated a total of GH¢ 20,000.00 towards this year's annual Ohum festival of the chiefs and people of Mamfe. The package included GH¢ 1,000.00 cash, assorted MTN branded souvenirs worth GH¢ 1,000.00, a Fixed Wireless Application Phone (FWAP) machine and sponsorship of a musical concert and football gala with cash prizes for winners. A representative of MTN, Mr Admiral Abbey, who presented the items on Thursday, said the company had associated itself with the festival to demonstrate its commitment to the community in which it operated. He explained that the FWAP machine was for commercial use to generate funds for the traditional council during and after the festivities.

The Mamfehene, Nana Ansah Sasraku II, who received the items, said the one-week celebration of the festival was originally scheduled to end on the 28th of December but for the election run-off it had been adjusted. He said the festival was instituted about 500 years ago and had been observed annually and thanked MTN for the support.
