Accra, Oct 27, GNA - MTN Ghana on Wednesday organized a customer education on its products and services for market women at Makola as part of its customer service week celebration, in Accra. The exercise aimed at raising the awareness of the public about the company's products and services, particularly the importance of registering their SIM cards and the need to register for the MTN mobile money service.

Mr Mumuni Issifu, Quality Assurance Controller of MTN, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), said the MTN mobile money allowed customers to perform a range of basic financial transactions using their handsets without the need to open or have a bank account.

He said the service also permitted customers to conveniently transact businesses, buy airtime, pay electricity and water bills as well as transfer money to friends and relatives anywhere and any time, from their mobile phones.

Mr Issifu noted that the service was convenient, accessible, safe and easily demonstrated the company's commitment to bring world class mobile banking to subscribers in all parts of the country.

According to him, the service allowed the individual to keep a secret wallet with a four-digit password to prevent other people form having access to the account, making it always safe and secured.

Mr Issifu said the SIM card registration would also help the company to identify mobile phone SIM card owners and curb negative incidents, such as loss of phones through theft, nuisance in text messages, scams, threats, raising unnecessary alarm or creating panic.

He cautioned the public to be wary of individuals who demanded various amounts of money from them before registering their SIM cards and urged them to report any of such persons to the authorized bodies.

Mr Issifu called on subscribers to participate in the exercise to be able to enjoy the convenience of easily transacting business from the comfort of their homes or offices at any time of the day.
