MTN Ghana has introduced a video conferencing service to facilitate interaction among persons at different remote locations.
The new service, which is a part of the company’s Cloud Service package, is a video interface platform that allows people to communicate and view the activities of their corresponding counterparts at different geographical locations via the internet.
To demonstrate the interactive nature of the service, students of La Presbyterian Senior High School, with the help of a laptop and a camera, participated in a lecture that took place on the Osu Presbyterian Senior High School campus in Accra.
The innovation also forms part of MTN’s 21 Days Yellow Care Project to reach out to people in areas where the company operates.
It will be used by the two schools without any cost for a period of two months.
Afterwards, a permanent programme will be rolled out for schools which will subsequently be extended to other schools in the country.
Cynthia Lumor, Corporate Service Executive of the MTN Ghana, who spoke to some teachers and students from her office during the lecture through the video conferencing service, stated that the new technology was in line with the service provider’s vision of establishing a brand new world of digital experience.
She also expressed the company’s commitment to the development of education in the country and hoped that other educational institutions would welcome and use the new technology.
Margaret Henrietta Osei, Assistant Headmistress, Academics of Osu Presec, was also grateful to the company for the kind gesture and advised students and teachers to take advantage of the newly-introduced cutting edge technology to share ideas.
The company, which has established ICT learning centers in all 10 regions of the country, also presented some books and other learning materials to the schools.
