Maiden edition of Ghana Motor Show opens in Accra

The first edition of the Ghana Motor Show, which seeks to promote partnerships between foreign and local companies in the auto industry has been officially opened at the Accra International Trade Fair centre.

Managing Director of Orange IMC Ghana limited, the local organisers of the event told Ghanaweb in an interview that their partners found the removal of taxes on auto parts as a great opportunity and “were very happy and excited to come and sell original parts for Ghanaians to enjoy”.

Christopher Rockson said the focus of the fair is to encourage international companies to establish businesses in Ghana with support from their respective governments.

He urged all Ghanaians looking forward to start auto businesses to visit the fair for networking.



The Turkish Ambassador to Ghana, Nesrin Bayazit encouraged Ghana to promote its abilities in Turkey as they are doing in Ghana to strengthen the good relations the two countries have with each other.

She said, “Turkey and Ghana enjoy close and cordial relationships and our economic relationships is expanding, our trade volumes increasing, so this is one of the purposes that Turkey is represented in this fair and we hope that Ghana could also promote Ghanaian possibilities and potential in Turkey”.



Team Leader for Domestic Trade and Ghana International Trade Commission, Lawrence Osei-Boateng at the Ministry of Trade and Industry who represented the minister said government is committed to making the private sector competitive and entreated the sector to partner with government.



The Ghana Motor Show which will end on Saturday, September 16 was organised by Orange IMC Ghana limited together with FairAct Exhibitions and Events LLP and Verifair intelligent interface.
