Major Equities Maintain Gains On Exchange

Accra,(Greater Accra Region) 15 Oct. Major equities extended their gains today on the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE), with trading mainly in the breweries and manufacturing equities. The GSE All-Share Index was pegged at 469.66 points, a rise of 1.48 points from Monday's 468.18 points. Offers of 804,980 trailed bids of 22,288,040. Demand has in recent times been on the increase, a trend analysts say reflects the extent of confidence investors have in the market. The volume of shares traded stood at 426,440, against the previous 127,750 sold on Monday. Market capitalisation was up at 2,900.90 billion cedis, compared to Monday's 2,888.20 billion cedis. On the broader market, there were six price appreciations and no rpt no loss. Ashanti Goldfields Company (AGC) was 100 cedis richer, closing at 21,000 cedis, Accra Brewery Limited (ABL) went up 18 cedis to end at 688 cedis, while Kumasi Brewery Limited (KBL) was up five cedis at 955 cedis. Guinness Ghana Limited (GGL) climbed up 10 cedis to 530 cedis, Mobil Oil Ghana Limited (MOGL), five cedis to close at 6,315 cedis, and Social Security Bank (SSB) gained one cedi to close at 1,656 cedis.
