Accra, June 5, GNA - The Management of Coca Cola Ghana on Monday announced a sponsorship package for an executive member of Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) to watch the semi-final and final match at the on-going 2010 FIFA World Cup Tournament in South Africa.
The package includes a return air ticket, accommodation for four nights and allowance all estimated at 10,000 dollars. Mr Philippe Ayivor, Franchise Manager, Coca Cola Equatorial Africa, presenting the package in Accra, said the gesture was to show management's appreciation to the media on the coverage of the tournament. "The media indeed succeeded in taking the 23 million Ghanaians who could not travel to South Africa through exciting times and became part of discussions on the tournament," he added. Mr Ayivor said management was prepared to work with GJA to support the media in the discharge of their role in promoting public accountability and good governance.
He said management would in addition; sponsor the Best Health Journalist category of the GJA Awards scheduled for August this year. "This strategic relationship with the media is necessary and timely because management recognises the media as partners and key allies to reach our customers and stakeholders," he said.
Mr Affail Monney, Vice President of GJA, receiving the package commended management of Coca Cola Ghana for recognising role of the media in the country's socio-economic development. He expressed the hope that the collaboration would be beneficial to the two institutions. 5 July 10
