The new Manet Police Station
Manet Properties, Ghana’s famous commercial and residential estate developer has shown the way in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), by handing over a modern Police Station to the Ghana Police Service.
The facility which is estimated US$200,000 will host the Baatsona Divisional Headquarters and the Okpoi-Gonno District Headquarters and as well serve residents in and around the Spintex Road in Accra.
Mr Martin Beeko, the MD of Manet Group, speaking at the inauguration last Friday said the decision to embark on the project was in line with the company’s corporate social responsibility; realising that there was no police station in the neighborhood, which was a hindrance to the security of residents.
On his part, the Inspector General of Police Mohammed Ahmed Alhassan commissioning the facility said, the Police Service faced the challenge of providing adequate office and residential accommodation for its personnel, hence welcomed the gesture done them by Manet Properties and partners.
He however mentioned that with population increases and urbanisation, government initiative alone may not be sufficient to deal with the growing demand for the establishment of new police stations and therefore called for effective Public Private Partnership to salvage the situation.
The IGP also appealed to the Ghana Real Estate Development Association (GREDA) and other benevolent individuals, corporate bodies and nongovernmental organisations (NGOs) to support the police in order to deal with emergence of crime across the country.
