The Management of Melcom Group of Companies has opened a new branch of Melcom Shop at La to provide a new shopping experience and satisfaction to its customers living within La and its environs.
The La Branch, which is Melcom’s 39th store in Ghana, would cater for household needs of the people of La and its environs.
On sale are various categories of products ranging from electrical appliances, gift items, furniture, kitchen wears and electronics.
Mr Godwin Avenorgbo, Director of Communications of Melcom Group of Companies, said the shop had been christened ‘La Melcom’ because it was in honour of the La people; who are brave warriors and a very determined people with a well-respected royalty.
He said the geographical area covered by the traditional area already boasts of strategic state and private businesses.
“We think that providing service to the people of La and all the workers in these institutions is a worthy contribution to growing the economy," the Director stated.
Mr Avenorgbo noted that the coast line from Tema to Accra, hosts the Tema Branch Melcom, then the Teshie Melcom and Accra Central Melcom; and as such La Melcom therefore, comes to bridge the gap that exists in travel distance between Teshie Melcom and Accra Central Melcom.
“We have therefore, succeeded in reducing travel distance to a Melcom shop for residents and workers in La, Osu, Labone, Burma Camp, Cantonments and surrounding areas," he added.
He pointed out that the Group Chairman had directed that the Melcom Group invests in the upgrading of a number of existing Melcom Branch Shops nationwide in order to enhance the shopping experience of their shoppers.
Mr Avenorgbo noted that other shops that did not meet the Melcom grand design sizes for display of large varieties of products under one roof would soon be operating from bigger shops with more modern facilities.
Mr Bhagwan Khubchandani, the Melcom Group Chairman, also noted that Melcom’s mission was to provide a new shopping experience to where the populace lived; "that is to the doorstep of its customers".
He said the establishment of the new branch would reduce stress customers go through to travel to other branches to buy products and management was hopeful of opening its fiftieth branch by the end of next year.
He also commended the staff of Melcom for their hard work and commitment towards achieving the objectives of the company.
