Management of Popular Television station, Metro TV has mobilised money to pay off a debt it owed the Ghana Revenue Authority.

The station was shut down Tuesday morning over non-payment of taxes.

The station which was off air is likely to begin operations again.

Starrfmonline.com gathered that new owners of the Accra-based television, the Jospong Group of companies, were not made aware of certain tax liabilities left by the previous owners.

It is, however, not clear how much the station owed the state.

The GRA has recently embarked on an exercise to shut down companies and institutions who have not settled their tax obligations.

The GRA last week almost shut down the Accra Mall over non-payment of taxes amounting to GHS2.3 million.
