Ho, May 21, GNA - Mrs Dzifa Attivor, the Deputy Minister of Transport, said on Friday that the government was working on welfare and salary issues of staff of the Metro Mass Transit (MMT) and urged them to be hard working.
"You have to put up your best and not handle the work as any usual one. You must desist from pilfering, smuggling and work towards maximizing profit for increased salaries and allowances," she said. Mrs Attivor said this when she visited the Transport Company's terminal at Ho to interact with staff and travellers. She said the government was ordering more buses which would include disability friendly ones to improve road transportation. Mrs Attivor told staff of the company in Ho to keep the buses neat to make travelling on them pleasurable for passengers and expressed regret that the buses looked good outside but the insides were unclean. She said the transport business was competitive and needed a lot of skilful planning to win and keep clients.
Mr Rexford Addo, Assistant Traffic Officer in charge at the Terminal, said bad roads on some routes were weakening the buses. Mr Stephen Aquah-Wilson, Point Officer, appealed to the Ho Municipal Assembly to find parking spaces for taxis operating from the bus terminal. Travellers who spoke said the buses were more comfortable and affordable compared to others.
