The Ministry of Energy and Green Transition has reaffirmed its commitment to championing energy innovation by strengthening its partnership with the Africa Energy Technology Centre (AETC) for the upcoming Africa Energy Technology Conference (AETC 2025).
The landmark event is set to drive Africa’s energy transformation by fostering cutting-edge technological advancements and investment in the sector.
In a high-level meeting, newly appointed Minister of Energy and Green Transition, Dr. John Abdulai Jinapor, engaged with AETC Founder and President Emelia Akumah, alongside Board Member Tony Burkson, Deputy Minister Richard Gyan-Mensah (Designate), and Chief Director Wilhelmina Asamoah.
The discussions reinforced Ghana’s leadership in energy innovation and its strategic positioning as a hub for energy technology in Africa.
Ghana driving Africa’s energy innovation
With AETC 2025 set to be Africa’s first energy technology-focused conference led by an African woman, the Ministry of Energy emphasised the importance of local leadership, inclusivity, and innovation in tackling Africa’s energy challenges.
The event will serve as a catalyst for advancing sustainable energy solutions, attracting investment, and promoting Ghana as a leader in the continent’s energy transition.
The Ministry praised AETC’s commitment to developing African-led energy solutions and its role in accelerating Ghana’s vision for an energy-secure and technologically advanced future.
Energy Minister Dr. John Jinapor in his remarks reaffirmed the government’s unwavering support for the conference, emphasising its significance in shaping Africa’s sustainable energy landscape.
“This conference comes at a pivotal moment as Africa works to balance the urgent need for sustainable energy access with economic growth and development. The Ministry of Energy is committed to ensuring that Ghana continues to play a leading role in this transition by fostering collaboration and driving investment in energy innovation,” he noted.
The Minister also emphasised government's commitment to accelerating energy transformation, strengthening public-private partnerships, and positioning Ghana as the epicenter of Africa’s energy revolution.
The conference will bring together key stakeholders to advance the energy agenda, including; government leaders and policymakers shaping energy policies, investors and financial institutions driving energy sector funding, energy technology firms pioneering innovative solutions, academics and researchers exploring new frontiers in energy development, women and youth leaders advocating for inclusive energy progress and among others.
