Ministry, rural bank, gives C155.5m to women

Apam (C/R) June 28, GNA - The Gomoa Rural Bank Limited in conjunction with the Ministry of Women and Children's Affairs provided financial assistance of 155.5 million to 311 women last year. The women made up of traders, fishmongers, farmers and retailers have so far repaid greater portion of their loans, leaving about 52.2 million cedis to be recovered.

The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the financial institution, Mr Andrew Simpson who stated these at the bank's 24th Annual General Meeting of the bank, said the Ministry provided 58.0 million cedis while the Bank added the rest. He said that the Bank also gave a total of 26 million cedis to individuals and groups to enable them to increase their output.


Mr Simpson said that the Board was restructuring the Bank with the view to improving its administration and operations to achieve excellence. He said the ultimate aim was to transform the Bank into a cost effective and efficient institution to inspire trust and confidence.

Mr Simpson said that the vision of the Board was also to make the Bank one of the best five rural banks in the Central Region by the end of the year. 28 June 05
