A three-man team from the Mitsubishi Corporation of Japan is in Ghana to explore investment opportunities in the country.
The corporation, which is already involved in the purchase of cocoa beans in Ghana, is looking into the possibility of exploiting the country?s bauxite deposits at Nyinahin and Kibi in the Ashanti and Eastern regions respectively.
Yesterday, the paper spoke with the leader of the delegation, Masaki Miyaji, who is Mitsubishi?s corporate adviser.
He called for the strengthening of small and medium scale enterprises (SMEs) and family-owned businesses saying that this would enable Ghana to make headway in its quest to be an economic giant in the sub-region.

Through the intervention of the Danish Government about 500,000 people in four regions will soon have access to good drinking water.
The Danish Government has made available a 60-million dollar grant for the project which has been planned to help improve water supply and sanitation in some communities in the Central, Eastern, Volta and Greater Accra regions, over the next five years.
The Danish ambassador, Mr Flemming Bjokle Pedersen, announced this yesterday when he paid a courtesy call on works and housing minister, Hackman Owusu-Agyeman in his office.
About 70 per cent of the amount will be used to provide water for the communities, while the remaining will go into areas such as the School of Hygiene education project of the Ghana Education Service, Water Resource Commission and the water directorate of the ministry.
Responding, Mr Owusu-Agyeman said that the Government?s commitment to move the water sector forward was total. He pledged to ensure access to clean, decent and regular water supply for the most vulnerable communities.
He commended the Danish Government for the assistance and said that it was the policy of the Government to forge closer relations with donor agencies and seek their support in improving the living conditions of the people.
