Morocco to help Ghana develop its tourism sector

Accra, Feb. 9, GNA - Ghana and Morocco have signed a memorandum of understanding to promote and develop tourism in the country.

To this end, the government of Morocco would support Ghana to establish a hotel and tourism-training institute, train Ghanaians in food and beverage, Front Office, Housekeeping and Tour Guiding.

A statement signed by Ms Victoria Antwi Sarpong, Public Relations Officer, Ministry of Tourism and Modernisation of the Capital City mentioned tourism products development and packaging, assessment of social and economic impact of tourism and promotion of joint investment solicitation as other areas to extend the support.

It said the agreement followed Mr Jake Obestebi-Lamptey, the Tourism Minster's recent visit to Morocco where he exchanged experiences in tourism development with Mr Abdul Douiri, the Moroccan's Tourism Minister.

The statement noted that the two Ministers agreed to cooperate in order to have a fair share of the benefits of the global tourism industry.
