Multichoice on Thursday forged a partnership with eTranzact Ghana, an electronic payment service provider to collect bills.

The partnership will allow eTranzact Ghana to roll out a subscription collection platform particularly for subscribers of Digital Satellite Television (DSTv) bills.

The electronic platform known as “eTranzact” is expected to provide a channel of business communication including mobile phone, internet, point of sale terminals, automated teller machines and cash payment at banks to facilitate easy payment on transactions for customers.

Speaking on the importance of the new electronic payment platform at a ceremony in Accra, Mr George Babafemi, Chief Operating Officer of eTranzact Ghana, said it is necessary to leverage technology as a tool to ease the burden of payment of subscription fee.

“Over the years, collection for DSTV subscription has been limited largely to cash payment at Multichoice offices, banks... and in recent times, extended to electronic payment via various mobile wallets,” he said, adding that the advent of eTranzact is to rectify the situation.

Mr Babafemi said the partnership seeks to enhance the existing payment methods, introduce new and exciting ways to pay subscription fee and to add value and excitement to the lives of stakeholders.

He said the benefits of the eTranzact platform include mobile banking payment, internet payment, banks outlet payment, agents’ collection and payment system. Mr Cecil Sunkwa Mills expressed optimism that customers could now access 24-hour payment services throughout the week and to conveniently exploit multiple options for payment.

“We can now stop integrating banks one-on-one and focus most of our attention on providing more customer service rather than on managing several links to banks that could be done from a single source,” he said.
