President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has praised the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP) for its pivotal role in transforming Ghana's entrepreneurial landscape.

Addressing an audience on May 29, 2024, at the 3rd Applied Research Conference of Technical Universities in Ghana, the President outlined NEIP's achievements since its inception in 2017.

The President reported that NEIP has been instrumental in the creation of over 103,871 jobs by the end of 2023 and has helped 15,000 start-ups expand their operations.

"By offering financial support and business development services, NEIP has enabled 15,000 start-ups to scale up their operations," he said.

The late John Kumah, NEIP's first CEO, and Mohammed Awal Ibrahim, former Minister for Business Development, were honored for their foundational efforts in the programme's establishment.

President Akufo-Addo stated that NEIP's success has not only bolstered job creation but has also established Ghana as a center of innovation in the region.

The President reaffirmed the government's commitment to nurturing an environment conducive to entrepreneurship, with significant investments in education and research, including over GH¢700 million in research and book allowances since 2020.

He also underscored the focus on STEM education as a driver of innovation and entrepreneurship, citing the development of the Accra STEM Academy and various STEM centers and schools.

President Akufo-Addo called for continued support for initiatives like NEIP and collaborative efforts to propel Ghana's progress through innovation and entrepreneurship.

"Together, we can build a brighter future for our nation, characterized by innovation, inclusivity, and prosperity," he said.

He also expressed his gratitude for Toyota's endorsement of the Ghana Automotive Development Policy and supported the Bono Regional Minister's call for a Toyota industrial outlet in Sunyani.

NEIP, a flagship initiative for fostering entrepreneurship and innovation, has provided extensive support to start-ups, including funding, training, and mentorship.
