NGO holds industrial training for students

A job camp industrial training programme that aims at transforming the lives of the youth in the various tertiary institutions and communities, was held in Accra on Saturday.

It was organised through an open discussions and practical perceptive on career path development.

The day’s training programme organised by Global Intelligence Consult (GIC) in collaboration with University of Ghana sought to enlighten students by giving them the needed training that would enable them to standout in the job market after school.

It was also a platform to conscientise and discuss practical measures that the power of entrepreneurial actions could be used to transform academic and after school career prospects.

Speaking at the annual GIC job camp industrial training programme, Mr Emmanuel Angmortey, Consulting Director, noted that the training was a roadmap of business opportunities that had the objective of instilling confidence as well as providing industrial working qualities in the youth.

“The objectives of GIC as well as this annual training further aims at using expertise, time and resource persons to help the new generations of young leaders in understanding the promises of businesses that would create meaningful and lasting change for their future,” he said.

Mr Angmortey however indicated that lack of mentorship, voluntary internship as well as practical attachments as some of the negative factors making the youth not to excel in the job market whenever an opportunity arises.

He, therefore, challenged the youth to adopt the spirit of volunteerism in wherever they find themselves doing and also called for concerted efforts that would help make the goals of the youth be met extensively in any area of job quest they pursue.

Mr Winfred Quartey, Chief Executive Officer, Commerce Valley Limited, advised students to embrace failure and not be shy of it as the more they fail it was a benchmark adding up to their success in life.

He also urged students and young entrepreneurs to possess the qualities of engagement, sharing ideas and being innovative initiators in their chosen fields as those and other positive qualities like hardworking and perseverance are their limit to greater heights.

The training brought together other entrepreneurs to educate students on topics which included banking, introduction to software training, entrepreneurship training, job interview coaching as well as a breakout engagement sessions for participants to engage with entrepreneurs in order to share ideas, be mentored and broaden their knowledge.

Some participants who spoke to the Ghana News Agency expressed satisfaction about the summit and called for more of such educative programmes to be inculcated in their curriculum.
