Former Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Dr Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, has downplayed the corruption case filed against him and nine others by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), describing it as “useless.”

Reacting to the OSP’s ongoing investigations into the alleged misappropriation of GH¢291.4 million and over US$300,000, Dr Abdul-Hamid insisted there was no substance to the allegations.

“I came to support my friend Wontumi, but for me, my matter dierr, it’s useless. There’s nothing in it,” he declared in a viral video shared via X on Tuesday November 4, 2025.

Dr Abdul-Hamid expressed confidence that the case would not stand.

His comments follow the OSP’s recent decision to name him among ten individuals accused of engaging in corruption-related offences during their tenure at the NPA.

The probe reportedly focuses on financial irregularities and potential breaches of procurement and expenditure procedures.

Dr Abdul-Hamid, who served as NPA boss from 2021, maintains that he and his team acted lawfully and transparently in all their dealings.

The OSP’s case forms part of a broader investigation into alleged financial misconduct within key state institutions.
