Nana Bosoma weekly market in Sunyani closed down

The Management of the Sunyani East Municipal Assembly in collaboration with the Sunyani Traditional Council have closed down the weekly Nana Bosoma Market popularly known as ‘Wednesday’ market, effective Tuesday, April 21, 2020, till further notice.

The essence is to ensure proper observation of the social and physical distancing protocols because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

A press release signed by Mr. Rueben Oliver Avayevu, the Municipal Information Officer on behalf of Madam Justina Owusu Banahene, the Municipal Chief Executive and copied the Ghana News Agency on Thursday in Sunyani stated that satellite markets, however, had been created for the convenience of both traders and consumers.

The precinct of the Sunyani Coronation Park is allocated for sellers of vegetables and spices such as tomatoes, onions, garden eggs, pepper, okra and ginger as well as foodstuffs like cassava, cocoyam, yam and plantain.

Behind the Twene Amanfo Senior High/Technical School is for dealers in footwear and bags while the Jubilee Park is earmarked for second-hand clothing sellers, the release said.

It added the central (old) market located at the heart of the central business district is for the sellers of other food items including meat and fish, corn dough, cassava dough and groundnut paste, as well as the retailers of other goods and wares.

The Management pleaded with the general public to adhere to the directives while observing social distancing, regular washing of hands with soap under running water, frequent use of alcohol based hand sanitizers and observation of other health protocols, the release concluded.
