National Black Chamber of Commerce calls on Jake

Accra, June 15, GNA - An 18-member delegation from the National Black Chamber of Commerce (NBCC), USA, on Tuesday paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Tourism and Modernisation of the Capital City, Mr Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey The delegation is on a two-week visit to the country to assess investment opportunities.

Welcoming the delegation, Mr Obetsebi-Lamptey told them that any investor who invested in the tourism sector would reap the benefits of his or her investment.


He said a number of interventions had been designed by the Government to ensure a speedy growth in the tourism sector. The Minister said Government was expanding and upgrading all roads leading to tourist attraction sites to make them accessible.

Mr Obetsebi-Lamptey said a total of 200,000 personnel would be trained in tourism related courses by the year 2007 to strengthen the quality of human resource in the Sector Mr Harry C. Alford, the President and Chief Executive Officer of (NBCC), said the group was looking forward to establishing cooperation with the local business community.


He said the delegation would call on the Ministers of Finance and Economic Planning, Mr Yaw Osafo-Maafo and the Minister of Trade, Industry and President's Special Initiatives, Mr Allan Kyerematen.
