The Kingdom Transport Services Limited (KTS) last week introduced 50 new mini -Ford buses to serve the business community in the country. The service, dubbed “Business Traveller” (BT), is aimed at enhancing the smooth movement of businessmen and women across the country.
In his opening address, Mr. Felix Kwame Semavor, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the company, said after KTS had made some impact in its commercial service through inter-urban service throughout the country, it found it prudent to respond to the demand for time and customers’ anxiety on the road to introduce this programme.
He said BT took into account the comfort and safety of travellers and reliability of transport, adding that those buses would ply the Accra to Kumasi, Bolgatanga, Takoradi, and Aflao routes as well as across the borders of the country. KTS was established in November 1993, engaged mainly in hiring, but currently the company can boast of 190 buses and 600 employees.
According to Mr. Semavor, KTS was able to attain such heights without falling on any government assistance.
He said the company was able to deliver these new mini-Ford buses at the cost of $1.8 million through the support of leasing companies in Ghana and loans contracted from international banks, such as HSBC Equator, Standard Charter, UK and US Exim Bank.
Mr. Kwamina Bartels, the Private Sector Development Minister, who launched the BT Service, commended the CEO of KTS for attaining such a high standard in the transport sector.
He said the government would continue to create an enabling environment for the private sector, which has been identified as the engine of growth.
Mr. Bartels urged businessmen and women to take advantage of the fallen interest rate and the stable exchange rate and do more business in the country.
He urged the workers to work hard to achieve laurels for the company in the years ahead.
