A new Governing Board for the Public Procurement Authority (PPA) has been inaugurated by Mrs Mona Quartey, Deputy Minister of Finance, in accordance with Section four of the Public Procurement Act, 2003 (Act 663).
The members of the Board comprise a chairperson, four persons from the public sector, three from the private sector and the Chief Executive of the Authority.
The Board will be chaired by Alhaji Sumani Abubakari and embers are Mr Samuel Sallas-Mensah, Chief Executive Officer, PPA, Dr Dominic Ayine, Deputy Attoney General and Member, Alhaji Abu Jajah, Member, Mrs Magdalene Apenteng, Mrs Magaret Andan, Member, Ms Mansa Amoa-Awuah, Member and Mr William Kwame Awuku-Member.
Mrs Quartey congratulated the immediate past Governing Board for their commitment and tenacity to duty which moved the Authority and the entire public procurement system to another level of growth and development.
She cited the successful completion of amendment proposals on the Act 663, which was presently receiving attention in Parliament as one of the major achievements of the previous Board.
Mrs Quartey appealed to the in-coming Board to consider their appointment as a call to national service and work to ensure the enforcement of the Act through monitoring to ensure full compliance.
She appealed to the Board to intensify public education and stakeholder engagements to diffuse the wide spread perception of corruption in the public procurement system to improve public confidence.
Alhaji Abubakari, on behalf of the other Members of the Board, expressed appreciation to the Government for the confidence reposed in them and pledged their dedication to work in order to consolidate the gains made by their predecessors.
