Northern youth to benefit from NORSAAC

A total of 255 young people in Karaga and Gushegu in the Northern region are to benefit from NORSAAC's Sustainable Livelihood Initiative project from 2015 to 2016.

The initiative, which has different modules, is aimed at equipping the youth with effective and efficient entrepreneurial skills to be self-employed and economically stable.

Mr Mohammed Ukasha Project Officer of NORSAAC in the Karaga/Gushegu Zonal Area, told Ghana News Agency in an interview that the new modules would be introduced in the next two years in the areas of motorbike and sewing machine repairs.

“After the training we will set trainees up with capital from GH¢ 200 to GH¢ 500, as seed money as well as provide them with tools and also build containers (workshops) for them,” he said.

Mr Ukasha hinted that much prominence would be given to financial support so that a total of 210 persons would be assisted financially.

He said already 350 young people in the Karaga District have been trained in bicycle repairs, financial literacy and business management skills trainings and mobile phone repairs.
