Executive Director of the Chamber of Petroleum Consumers Ghana (COPEC), Duncan Amoah, has appealed to all Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) and other players in the oil industry to extend support to the various deprived communities following the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic in Ghana.

Mr Amaoh noted that although these companies have supported the government to deal with the pandemic, they should also spread out the support directly to the communities.

Speaking to TV3 News 360 on Sunday, April 19, Mr Duncan Amoah said: “The various players downstream have so far demonstrated commitment in helping out through this difficult period of the coronavirus and the partial lockdown.

“If you look at the Chamber of Bulk Oil Distributors, it’s been phenomenal so far, if you look at the Association of Oil Marketing Companies and their individual members, it’s been phenomenal so far, If you look at the LPG marketing companies it’s been very good so far.

“We will beg of them to also go down into the various communities of their operations because some Ghanaians are having difficulties with food and other accessories that they will need through this lockdown.

“We will be happy if they extend their corporate social responsibilities to the very deprived communities that are also undergoing some difficulties as a result of the lockdown.”
