Oil and gas terminal at T’di Port next month

Construction of an oil and gas terminal at the Takoradi Port is expected to begin next month, according to the Director of the Port.

The building of the terminal is part of expansion works ongoing at the Port.

The Director said work on the Port is progressing steadily and it is likely to finish ahead of schedule.

Captain James Owusu Koranteng was speaking to TV3’s Ebenezer Abakah after the Parliamentary Select Committee on Roads and Transport embarked upon an inspection tour to the site over last week.

Members wanted to familiarise themselves with progress of work.

“In fact, we have got companies signing on and taking up space,” Captain Owusu Koranteng said.

“We are going to start filling of the pond and the construction of the oil and gas hub next month,” he disclosed.

The Committee was satisfied with work done so far.

Chairman of the Committee Michael Boampong, who is also the Member of Parliament for Bia West Constituency, led the the inspection tour.

Already, Ghana Oil Company (GOIL), Viking and Haliburton, have erected facilities to provide oil and gas services at the port, Captain Owusu Koranteng indicated.
