Oil boom impacting on Accra's infrastructural dev’t

Mr Tony Sekyere, Head of Property Management, Broll Ghana Limited, a facility management, has cited the oil and gas boom in the country as one of the main reasons for the sprawling high rising office complexes springing up in Accra.

He said the oil and gas discovery had not only increased the number of businesses in the country, but also the desire for corporate entities to have decent offices from where they would operate, which would serve their comfort as well as their clients.

Addressing the press after a tour of some of the facilities managed by Broll Ghana Limited, he noted that Broll Ghana since its inception in the country in 2006, had made the provision of quality services their hallmark for its clients.

The facilities which were visited by the media as part of the tour were the Accra Financial Centre located at the Ministries, Nester Square at Airport City, and the Achimota Retail Centre.

Mr Sekyere said the three facilities were some of the new buildings which Broll had been contracted to manage this year.

He said Broll Ghana, which is owned jointly by SSNIT, SIC and the Broll Group of South Africa, manages properties in the excess of $100 million with most of them located in Accra.

Mr Sekyere mentioned the A and C Shopping Mall, West Hills Mall, the Achimota Retail Centre, the Accra Mall, as some of the big malls in the country being managed by Broll Ghana.

Mr Emmanuel Armoo, Property Manager, Accra Financial Centre, said the office complex which had 8 floors had been designed to meet international standard health and safety requirements, and offers tenants value-added safety and security benefits.

“The building also gives tenants access to world-class facilities such as fibre optic infrastructure for voice and data distribution, ample parking space, interchangeable floor configurations to suit individual tenants’ needs, and walking distance of basic services such as hotels, conference facilities, health clubs and restaurants,” he added.

Mr Samuel Amponsah Appiah, Operations Manager, Nester Square, said the eight floored building was designed to accommodate a balance of commercial offices, retail shops and services.

He said the retail and commercial areas were also environmentally managed to meet international standards.

Mr George Boakye Sarpong, Centre Manager, Achimota Retail Centre, said the Centre was established to basically serve communities within the environs of Achimota, Dome, Kwabenya, Tantra Hill, Tesano, Ofankor and others.

He said the Centre showcases shops that cater for fashion, health and beauty products, jewellery, home decors, banks, children’s entertainment, and variety of eateries.
