About 100 investors from Detroit in the United States would arrive in Kumasi in August to explore investment opportunities in the Ashanti Region, Mr Maxwell Kofi Jumah, Kumasi Metropolitan Chief Executive, has said.

He told the GNA in an interview that the visit is a follow up to one made to Kumasi by an investor from Detroit following the visit of Mr S.K. Boafo, Ashanti Region Minister and Nana Nsiah Awuah, Presiding Member of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) to Detroit.

On poverty alleviation, Mr Jumah said KMA has received 300 million cedis to disburse to about 1.1 million needy people of the metropolis and that patience is needed to work out the disbursement.

He said the Poverty Alleviation Fund is meant for petty traders, common carriers (kayayei), small-scale shoemakers, ice water and ice kenkey sellers as well as small-scale businesses that have no access to big capital.

Mr Jumah said the KMA in collaboration with Empretec Ghana would start seminars to educate women traders on simple bookkeeping and how to enter the international market trade.
