Online radio TV station launched

Accra, May 18, GNA - OmanyeOnline, a new radio and television station on the Internet with emphasis on sport, was on Friday launched in Accra.

According to the management Omanye (which means Good News), would deliver to subscribers local, sports and entertainment news on a real-time basis.

The Chairman of OmanyeOnline, Mr. Sammy Crabbe said the website allowed subscribers to remain connected to Ghana and Africa at large by providing an easy and affordable way to watch and listen to favourite television and radio programmes, sporting events, dramas, live events and movies.

Visitors, he said, might also subscribe to receive news and breaking news alerts via SMS text.

Each of the services available on OmanyeOnline was offered on a pay-per-service, monthly, quarterly or yearly subscription basis through easy and convenient payment options.

The Project Manager, Mr. Arnold Asafu Adjaye, noted that in addition to offering live streams, OmanyeOnline offered subscribers complementary content on a Video on Demand (VoD) on Pay Per View (PPV) basis.

"With our worldwide access, presence and unique international billing platform, OmanyeOnline promises to deliver quality local and African content to the world and provide a great customer value and experience as well," he said.

He said countries to be covered include Australia, Austria, Bahrain, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Egypt, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iraq, Ireland, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Netherlands, Nigeria, Norway, Oman, Portugal, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Syria, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom and the United States.

Deputy Minister of Education, Youth and Sport, Mr Osei Bonsu Amoah, said Omanye was a platform for sport activities that would attract subscribers from outside the country especially with CAN 2008 around the corner.

Dr Aggrey Ntim, Deputy Minister of Communication, said the launch of Omanye would be an avenue for Ghanaians to enjoy their excellent culture online adding that it fell in line with a government project of assisting the youth to upgrade their businesses through Information Technology. 17 May 07
