Mr Albert Anson, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Kwahu Root and Fruit Company Limited (KRFCL), has said work on the ginger processing factory would be completed in August.

He said being part of the One District One Factory (1D1F) in the Kwahu West Municipality, the project would be completed to create employment for inhabitants in the area.

Speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency at Nkawkaw, he said as part of the One District, One Factory programme, the company has supported and created a ready market for 200 ginger farmers in the area and would employ 100 youth when the project is ready.

Mr Anson said the group of ginger farmers have already planted their ginger and are almost at the verge of harvesting.

He said after the initial inauguration of the company’s out-grower scheme some few months ago, the company disbursed over GH¢500, 000.00 to groups of farmers at Krakor, Wawaso and Asuboni Rails for maintenance of their farms.

The company, he said, also planted eight-acre organic temeric ginger (red ginger) at Borokuwaa in the Kwahu East District to support the scheme.

Mr Anson said the project would help expand and improve ginger cultivation in the area and help reduce poverty in the district.

He said the project would engage agriculture extension officers to ensure that small-scale farmers cultivate wholesome and organic ginger that would meet international market standard.

He said the company would be organizing free training for the farmers to introduce them to modern techniques in ginger farming to enable them to produce quality yields.

Mr Anson urged the farmers to take advantage of the project and effectively invest the funds given them.
