Otumfuo charges GNPC to develop the petroleum sector

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has reminded the governing board of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) about the pivotal role the corporation plays in the economic development of Ghana.

According to him, GNPC is one of Ghana’s crucial pillars which plays a pivotal role in the development of Ghana.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II gave his royal advice when the board of GNPC paid a courtesy call on him at the Manhyia Palace recently.

In a direct admonition to the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of GNPC, Mr. Joseph Dadzie, the Ashanti monarch advised him to put in his best to make GNPC a leading player in the petroleum sector.

“Do whatever you can for GNPC to be preeminent regulator in the petroleum sector and make Ghana the biggest beneficiary. This will bring honour to the board as well.” Asantehene advised Dadzie.

On the appointment of Mr. Joseph Dadzie as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for GNPC, Otumfuo told Mr Dadzie that his appointment as the leader of the corporation by the president, having served on the board symbolizes his positive leadership traits.

Otumfuo further stressed that when Mr Dadzie decided to leave the board of GNPC, the president appointed him as the CEO and so his reappointment symbolizes positive leadership and urged him to work in unity with the board.

Mr Dadzie, according to Asantehene, is reincarnated at the GNPC hence he knows the inside out of the corporation, adding that he does not need any orientation at the corporation.

He implored him to be honest, adding “As human beings, we are born to err but with God on our side, we can mend the errors and move on.

Touching on assistance meted out to him in his 25-years on the throne as Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II expressed appreciation to GNPC.

In a post-interview with the media, having visited Otumfuo, the Chief Executive of Officer (GNPC), disclosed to the media that their visit to Manhyia Palace aimed at expressing goodwill messages to Otumfuo on his seventy-fourth birthday and twenty-five years on the throne.

Mr Dadzie also added that their visit also seeks to inform the king that that the GNPC foundation will continue with the projects that they have started in the Ashanti region under his tenure as the CEO.
