The executives and members of Mampong Kontonkyi Association of New
York, NJ and CT, recently held a fund raising dance in aid of
Orphanage Schools at Mampong, Ashanti. The event occurred at the
Cocoa House and the special guests included; His Excellency; Obeng
Gyan Busia, Consul General, Nana Anane Amponsah, Asantefuohene and
accompanied by the Asantefuohemaa; Nana Abena Manu and sub-chiefs.
The Keynote Speaker was a visionary and Motivational Speaker known as;
Mr. Benjamin Afrifa of the Ford Foundation. Mr. Afrifa is also the
Vice President of NPP New York, MP aspirant and lastly the nephew of
Asante Mampong's favorite son; the late General Okatakyie Akwasi
Amankwaa Afrifa. Papa She'ee and dancers also entertained guests with
a performance.
The Association had previously sent computers to the Mampong Library
and in 2006, presented Christmas gifts to the Orphanage School which
was started by their brothers and sisters from Toronto.
The Chairman; Mr. Kofi Adu, executives and entire members of the
association would like to offer their sincere gratitudes to ALL for
the support.
