Apostle Samuel Amponsah-Frimpong Esq., Chairman of the Christ Apostolic Church International, has emphasized the importance of empowering the youth to develop their entrepreneurial skills in the country.
He believes this is one of the surest ways to boost the country's economy, noting that the Christian faith has contributed significantly to economic development and entrepreneurship.
The CAC Chairman emphasized that empowering the youth to develop their skills will lead to their contribution to national development for the benefit of all.
He made these remarks at the third edition of the annual Financial Economics Seminar at the Accra International Conference Centre, themed; "Entrepreneurship, a functional element for economic growth and stability of developing economies."
Deputy Minister of Finance, Dr. Stephen Amoah on his part stated that entrepreneurship should be included in the country's academic curricula as a compulsory subject at the senior high school and tertiary levels.
He stressed the importance of giving entrepreneurship proper consideration in the state budget to ensure youth development.
Dr. Amoah highlighted the benefits of entrepreneurship, including creating new businesses, employment opportunities, enhancing purchasing power, revenue generation, and reducing the national deficit.
"Entrepreneurship is crucial for maintaining a healthy balance between macroeconomic and microeconomic factors, contributing to stable economic performance by reducing monopolies, oligopolies, and cartels," the minister said.
He emphasized that entrepreneurship is the way forward for a country like Ghana, which possesses a wide range of commercially viable raw materials, natural resources, and a large and diverse labor force.
Prof. Atinuke Olusola Adebanji, Head of the Department of Statistics Actuarial Science at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), suggested that the government should create an enabling environment for youth to develop their entrepreneurial potential.
The seminar was organized by the Financial Economics Institute Africa, bringing together experts, scholars, industry players, and government officials to discuss and analyze the challenges facing developing economies.
Other speakers at the seminar included Prof. Atinuke Olusola Adebanji and Apostle Samuel Amponsah-Frimpong Esq, Chairman of the Christ Apostolic Church International.
