Workers of the Produce Buying Company of Ghana (PBC) have protested at Abeka Junction over unpaid salaries today, Wednesday, 7 August 2024.
Clad in red and holding placards, the employees demanded better working conditions.
This protest follows a similar one in the Ashanti region on May 29, 2024.
The workers, led by the Pressure Group of PBC Limited, are distressed over 12 months of unpaid salaries and have called for a government investigation into the company’s financial matters.
Seth Adusei, Vice Chairman of the Workers Union, urged Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to expedite the salary payments and address management issues.
The PBC's financial struggles include a court order obtained by the Agricultural Development Bank (ADB) and other banks to prevent the sale or transfer of PBC properties.
